Masirah Club launches its second national poetry competition

In celebration of the 52 glorious National Day, Masirah Club shares their joys by inviting all Omani poets to participate in its annual poetry competition in the field of folk poetry.

The competition aims to create a spirit of creative competition among poets to contribute to the general national effort by touching national trends and expressing them in poetry, keeping pace with the comprehensive national development movement led by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.

The competition are to be proud of the national achievement, celebrate it, preserve its gains, deepen feelings of belonging to the homeland and loyalty to the Sultan, while inviting the people of the country to understand the foundations of sustainable development and contribute to achieving its goals.

Financial prizes will be allocated to the first three places for the competition, where the first place holder will receive: 500 OMR, the second place: 300 OMR, and the third place: 200 OMR, and the last date for receiving entries is Thursday: November 24, 2022.

The winning texts will be announced on Monday, November 28, 2022, and the winners will be honored during a poetry evening that will be held for them on Friday, December 2, 2022 on Masirah Island, provided that the three winning poets commit to attend and participate in the closing evening on Masirah Island or any location determined by the committee. The supervisor of holding the evening, and the committee supervising the competition has the right to exclude any text found to be in violation of the conditions mentioned at any stage of the competition.

One of the conditions of the competition is to participate in one poem in the field of folk poetry in a creative manner that complies with the technical foundations and controls specific to the field.

It is possible to participate in a vertical poem or an activation poem, provided that the verses of the vertical poem are not less than (12) verses and not more than (20) verses, and the activation poem is not less than (5) syllables and not more than (8) syllables, and that the poem in which the participant is participating is recent It has not been previously published or participated in any other competition or event.

The participating poem is written on a file (Word) and sent to the e-mail: [email protected], provided that the participant is obligated to attach in the same e-mail containing the file of the participation poem another file that includes his personal data with a copy of his personal card and his phone contact information.
