Masirah Island Hosts Winter Festival to Support SMEs and Tourism
Masirah: The third edition of the Masirah Winter Festival was inaugurated this evening on Masirah Island in the South Sharqiyah Governorate, amid a festive atmosphere and wide community participation. The opening ceremony was held under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Salim bin Ali Al Hakmani, Chairman of the Consumer Protection Authority.
The festival is organized as part of ongoing efforts to revitalize tourism and social activity on Masirah Island during the winter season. It features a diverse programme of cultural, entertainment and sports activities, in addition to dedicated sections for productive families and small projects, contributing to the support of entrepreneurs and the stimulation of local economic activity.
In a statement to the Oman News Agency (ONA), His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Abdullah Ba’awain, Governor of Masirah, said that the Masirah Winter Festival represents a significant addition to seasonal events that highlight the island’s tourism and economic potential. He stressed that such events enhance community participation and open broader horizons for supporting youth initiatives and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
His Excellency added that the relevant authorities in the Wilayat continue to place great importance on organizing these events due to their role in stimulating tourism, attracting visitors, and reinforcing the cultural and heritage identity of Masirah Island.
The festival organizers affirmed that the third edition has witnessed notable development in terms of organization and diversity of activities, in order to meet the aspirations of visitors from within and outside the Wilayat, while showcasing the island’s rich tourism and heritage assets.
The Masirah Winter Festival will continue from 15 to 23 January, aiming to attract families and visitors and to establish itself as an annual event that enhances the Wilayat’s status as a distinctive winter tourism destination.
