Muscat Municipality Announces Mawaleh Central Market for Vegetables and Fruits Ready for Ramadan

• Availability of various quantities in the market and the arrival of (1073) trucks that are loaded with vegetables and fruits.

• Increasing inspection campaigns on shops, refrigerators, and fruit and vegetable stores, and continuing observation of restaurants and cafes.

Muscat: In preparation to deal with expectations of increasing demand for vegetables and fruits in the Central Market for Vegetables and Fruits during the Holy Ramadan. Muscat Municipality confirmed the readiness’ achievement of the central market for vegetables and fruits in terms of capacity, control and regulation. The specialized inspection teams at Muscat Municipality worked to follow up on the compliance of food stores and their customers with health requirements.The municipality also set working hours, determined the leading entrances and exits to the market, and ensured the market facilities are technically and organizationally ready. This ensures the smooth movement and market work’s continuity easily and organizationally in a simple and organized manner.

Incoming Shipments’ Number:

To ensure the appropriate amount of vegetables and fruits in the central market.Traders in the central market for vegetables and fruits have been insisted to increase direct imports from countries of origin. Additionally, Coordination with the Omani Farmers Society to ensure local products’ availability in quantities that meet the increasing and expected demand for various kinds of vegetables and fruits particularly. Companies have prepared for this season by increasing shipments’ number which come to the market to meet the local consumers’ needs.The arriving trucks at the market during the period from (10/2/2024 to 10/3/2024) reached (1073) trucks loaded with tons of vegetables and fruits.

Work Hours:

Market working hours are determined to suit Ramadan specificity. For the main type(wholesale type): Work will start from 4 am until 2 pm. As for wholesale stores, from 4 am until 5 pm. Retail and local production stores continue working in the morning and evening hours on all week days except Friday. While the main type (local production site) will be in operation from 4 am until 5 pm.

The market has allocated entry for transporting vehicles of vegetables and fruits’ wholesale from Gate No. (1) for the period from 4 am until 10 pm. As for the entry of consumers’ cars (individuals), it will be through Gate No.(2) for the period from 4:30 am until 10 pm. The market is closed on Fridays.
