Muscat: Mohammed Al Barwani Petroleum Services (MBPS), in coordination with the Oman Society for Petroleum Services (OPAL), has launched the third training program for drilling fluids graduates, which aims to train and prepare 15 Omani graduates to become drilling fluids engineers.

In a statement Oman Society for Petroleum Services OPAL said: OPAL organized the official induction for the Drilling Mud engineers program funded by Ministry of Labour (MOL). The program covers theoretical and practical aspects related to this field in addition to other relevant competencies. The program shall be completed in 18 months, and trainees will be employed at MBPS after successfully completing the program. 

The 18-month program began with an inauguration ceremony held at Opal’s offices, in the presence of Abdul Rahman Al Yahyai, ​​CEO of Opal, Salim Al Harthy, CEO of MP Petroleum Services (MBPS), and Ahmed Al Khadhuri, Drilling Fluids General Manager

Salim Al Harthy said: “The Drilling Fluids Graduate Training Program not only provides theoretical information, but prepares students from a 360-degree perspective to become truly capable drilling fluids engineers within 18 months to support the needs of the oil and gas industry. I am happy to say that we are preparing a future generation of professionals. in the oil and gas sector.

Ahmed Al-Khadhuri said, “The program has both theoretical and practical components, as well as a strong knowledge base on health, safety and environment. I believe that the students will do well in this program and will be able to support our clients in the future.” He added that over the past six years, the company has successfully trained and hired more than 41 new Omani graduates through this programme. This year, the company has received an additional 30 trainees.

He added that there is a great demand for drilling fluids engineers in the oil and gas sector due to their ability to raise the productivity of oil services, raise the level of safety, and reduce costs and difficulties associated with exploration and production.
