MCSY announces qualifiers for 27th Literary and Artistic Forum

Muscat: The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth has announced the texts that qualified for the 27th Literary and Artistic Forum, which will feature literary competitions in the fields of classical poetry, folk poetry and short stories, to be held in the Wilayat of Sur in the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate from October 20 to 24.

15 texts qualified for the Classical Poetry Competition, namely “A Very Clear Day” by poet Hamoud bin Salem Al Saadi, “A Last Chance of Intuition” by poet Qusay bin Salem Al Nabhani, “The Well” by poet Hamida bint Mohammed Al Ajamiya, “Confident as a Question Mark” by poet Mohammed bin Issa Al Maashri, “Abjawra” by poet Mohammed bin Khamis Al Rashidi, “The Biography of Thirst” by poet Saif bin Saeed Al Harthi, “A Picture of What” by poet Alaa Al Din bin Mohammed Al Dughaishi, “Here the Text Stands” by poet Talal bin Salim Al Salti, “Traveling in His Soul” by poet Abdullah bin Saeed Al Dhahli, “My Mother’s Things” by poet Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Shaili, “A Tear Falls from the Inkwell of Childhood” by poet Salem bin Juma Al Hashemi, and “Shadows Dialogue” by poet Salem bin Juma Al Hashemi. “Herself” by the poet Mubarak bin Khamis Al-Mukhaini, “A Body from the Desert” by the poet Haitham bin Hamad Al-Hadrami, “Stuck in Sorrow” by the poet Atab bint Hamad Al-Salti, and the text “Psychological Analysis in the Dark Night of the Soul” by the poet Ali bin Mal Allah Al-Kamzari.

In the popular poetry competition, 14 texts qualified, namely: “The Night and the Light of the Leper” by poet Abdulrahman bin Abdullah Al-Ghailani, “A Story” by poet Nasser bin Amer Al-Hajri, “A Dreamer’s Plane” by poet Mukhtar bin Saeed Al-Maamari, “My Boy” by poet Ibrahim bin Ismail Al-Balushi, “A Green Life” by poet Waleed bin Juma Al-Alawi, “The Bride of Memory” by poet Mishaal bin Khaseeb Al-Saadi, “Tashahhud” by poet Ali bin Mohammed Al-Majini, “A Greek Memory” by poet Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maghribi, “The Spear of Contempt” by poet Ahmed bin Amer Al-Eisaei, “Winter of the Heart” by poet Harith bin Juma Al-Buraiki, “A Dream” by poet Moaz bin Ahmed Al-Sulaimi, “The Dove of the Disappointed” by poet Nazim bin Mubarak Al-Buraidi, “Hajar” by poet Haitham bin Juma Al-Balushi, and “Wasm” by poet Saif bin Ali Al-Farsi.

The number of texts qualifying for the short story competition was 15 stories, including “Where does the gazelle run away to?” By Hamad bin Abdullah Al Mukhaini, “Suicide” by Noura bint Juma Al Jabriya, “An Unaccounted Day” by Anhar bint Naseeb Al Omariya, “The First Anniversary” by Shadha bint Khalfan Al Abri, “The Noble Weapon” by Zainab bint Nabil Al Omariya, “Walking to the Unknown” by Qatr Al Nada bint Hamid Al Majrafiya, “The Luxury of a Whole Tomato” by Rawan bint Nasser Al Kalbani, “The Story of an Email from Someone Who Knows What Happened” by Aisha bint Mubarak Al Shaqsiya, “Star” by Yasser bin Mohammed Aslam Al Balushi, “Frightener” by Nouf bint Khalfan Al Hadidi, “Vase” by Sarah bint Ali Al Masoudiya, “The Invader” by Idris bin Khamis Al Subhi, “An Itch in the Soul” by Hassan bin Saeed Al Hosani, “A Tour in a Country Night” by Abdulrahman bin Sayed Ali bin Mohammed, and “Old Basil” by Marwa bint Mohammed The Kharousiyya.

It is worth noting that the literary and artistic forum is one of the events that receives great attention from the talented in the cultural community, due to the usefulness it achieves in discovering their creative skills and developing their literary and artistic talents. The forum, through its previous editions, has contributed to providing the cultural scene with many creative names in various fields of classical and popular poetry, short stories, and the arts.
