Salalah: The Medical City for Military and Security Services today organized the “Third Khareef Dhofar Military Orthopedic Conference” with the participation of more than 200 orthopedic specialists from the Sultanate of Oman and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
The conference, which was held at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Dhofar Governorate, was inaugurated under the patronage of His Excellency Eng. Adi bin Hilal Al Maawali, Head of the Medical City for Military and Security Services.
The opening of the conference included a speech delivered by Colonel Doctor Yaqoub bin Suleiman Al Mufarji, Chairman of the Conference Organizing Committee, followed by a visual presentation on the Orthopedics Department and its roles.
Two lectures were also given: the first, on the topic of (National Health Disaster Management), presented by Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Saeedi, and the other entitled (Orthopedic Surgery in the Age of Augmented Reality and Artificial Intelligence), presented by Colonel Doctor Ahmed bin Saif Al-Jahouri, Senior Spine Consultant at the Medical City Hospital for Military and Security Services – Al-Khoud.
The conference, which will continue until the 7th of this month, will include a number of lectures, discussion and analytical sessions between participants, with the aim of reaching results and recommendations that contribute to achieving the desired goals of the conference. The conference will also be accompanied by two workshops: the first on the use of ultrasound waves in examining and treating diseases of the musculoskeletal system, and the other on the use of physical therapy and rehabilitation in treating and recovering from diseases and injuries of bones and joints.
The conference aims to achieve benefit and exchange medical expertise in this field between the Sultanate of Oman and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries to identify the extent of the problem, ways to prevent it, and effective means of treatment, and to cooperate in preparing joint research and studies to enhance the quality of health care.
The conference was attended by a number of senior officers from the Sultan’s Armed Forces and other military and security agencies, a number of general managers from government and private agencies in Dhofar Governorate, and a group of doctors and health specialists.
