MHUP reviews feature of Urban strategy for South Al Batinah Governorate

Rustaq: The South Al Batinah Governorate Office, in cooperation with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, today organized a workshop on the approach to implementing the urban strategy in the governorate, with the aim of unifying institutional efforts and working to harmonize the relevant authorities to ensure joint implementation of the urban strategy outcomes in various sectors and fields.

The seminar included the presentation of many diverse working papers that dealt with the features of the urban strategy of the South Al Batinah Governorate, the executive and planning programs and associated projects, which aim for the governorate to be more balanced by 2040 by achieving economic growth that includes the coastal range and the internal parts of the governorate, and empowering both Wilayat of Rustaq and Barka as regional centers for administration and economic activities in the governorate.

The session also touched on reviewing the projects and outcomes of the urban strategy for the South Al Batinah Governorate, and signing the document implementing the urban strategy programs for the governorate, which included many projects from the urban strategy outcomes and development projects of the South Al Batinah Governorate Office, as the agreement was signed by the governorate, His Excellency the Engineer, Governor of South Al Batinah, On the part of the Ministry, His Excellency Dr. Undersecretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning for Urban Planning.

Eng. Masoud bin Saeed Al Hashemi, Governor of South Al Batinah, said: The episode came as a continuation of the national urban strategy that emerges from Oman Vision 2040, stressing that the governorate has opportunities to exploit its strategic location and stimulate economic activity, especially in the Wilayat of Barka, as well as the economic and urban growth of the governorate’s states.

His Excellency added that the Wilayat of Rustaq is the administrative center in the governorate’s urban strategy, and urban growth is expected from the administrative and economic aspect, as the governorate is distinguished by a number of natural, tourism, heritage and cultural components, stressing the importance of the workshop to discuss the opportunities available to the concerned authorities and projects related to the implementation of the urban strategy.

The occasion was attended by His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Ali Al Mutawa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning for Urban Planning, His Excellency Engineer Masoud bin Saeed Al Hashemi, Governor of South Al Batinah, and a number of honorees, their excellencies and officials.
