Education Ministry Explores Cooperation to Support Children with Disabilities

Eight Centres Support 361 Children with Disabilities Across Oman

Muscat:  The Ministry of Education and the Association for Children with Disabilities explored means of enhancing cooperation in educational and rehabilitative services for children with disabilities during a visit by Dr. Madiha bint Ahmed Al Shaibani, Minister of Education, to the Association’s headquarters.

During the visit, the Minister reviewed the Association’s programmes and activities, including its efforts in rehabilitation and training. She stressed the importance of strengthening coordination between the Ministry and relevant institutions to support educational and social objectives, commending the Association’s role in serving children with disabilities.

For her part, Khadija bint Nasser Al Sa’ati, Chairperson of the Association, affirmed the organization’s commitment to developing its services and programmes to support children and their families, with the support of public and private sector partners, contributing to enhancing social inclusion.

The Association operates eight centres across several governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, providing services to 361 children through integrated educational and rehabilitative programmes aimed at developing their skills and supporting their integration into society.

The Association offers services to children with hearing, intellectual and motor disabilities, as well as autism spectrum disorder and Down syndrome, covering age groups from 4 to 14 years, in addition to pre-vocational programmes for those aged 15 to 23 years.

Its services include educational, rehabilitative, psychological and social support, as well as physiotherapy, speech therapy, vocational preparation programmes and community awareness initiatives.
