Ministerial decision issued for regulation of agricultural lands

Muscat: HE Dr. Saud bin Hamoud Al Habsi, Minister of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries and Water Resources, issued Ministerial Decision No. 290/2023 issuing of a regulation for agricultural lands on Thursday, which will be effective from the day following the publication of the decision in the Official Gazette.

The decision stipulated in its second article to cancel Ministerial Resolution 2020/84 regarding issuing a regulation for agricultural lands.

The regulations contained 17 articles distributed into 5 chapters.

The regulations in Article (5) prohibit the establishment of green lodges, mosques, Holy Qur’an schools, and public councils on agricultural land except with the approval of the Ministry, without prejudice to previously constructed buildings and facilities using fixed or non-fixed materials on agricultural land with the approval of the Ministry before the effective date of the provisions of these regulations.

The issuance of this decision was based on the agricultural system issued by Royal Decree No. 48/2006, the Civil Transactions Law issued by Royal Decree No. 29/2013, the law regulating and protecting the Aflaj sites included in the World Heritage List issued by Royal Decree No. 39/2017, and Royal Decree No. 92. / 2020 amending the name of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries to the Ministry of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries and Water Resources, defining its powers and approving its organizational structure, and to the executive regulations for the agricultural system issued by Ministerial Resolution No. 41/2010, and to the regulations regulating the use of agricultural lands issued by Ministerial Resolution No. 84/2020.
