Sohar: The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth will celebrate tomorrow honoring the winners of the Sohar Award for Critical Studies and Research in its second session, in the Wilayat of Sohar in the Governorate of North Al Batinah.
Khamis bin Rashid Al-Adawi, Consultant for Civilization Studies and Chairman of the Award Committee, said: “The Sohar Prize for Critical and Research Studies is the first Arab award of its kind in the Sultanate of Oman, which comes to achieve a message in cultural work by creating the appropriate and stimulating environment for creativity with the aim of achieving, developing and sustaining cultural leadership locally and globally.” .
He added: The award aims to highlight and motivate the Arab writer to research Omani literature, a goal the award was keen to achieve, as the Arab and international awards are an essential tributary for research and cultural studies. Dedicate its efforts to activate these awards and strive towards their continuity.
He explained: The award comes from the depth of the Omani literary heritage in its content, so the name Sohar was chosen for the award among a number of names, confirming Sohar’s historical and literary status. As mentioned by various sources, it had a literary market comparable to the Okaz market in its fame.
It is worth noting that the award will continue every two years, and it will be printed in books to be a research product produced by the award, and it will be available to the Arab researcher and scholar interested in Arabic and Omani literature.
