Ministry of Social Development issues clarification about child selling things on roadside

Muscat: The Ministry of Social Development issued a clarification on a clip circulating on social media in the hashtag “Social Development” showing a girl who was exhausted and fell asleep while selling goods on the side of the road in one of the governorates,

The ministry explained that the child protection representative in the wilayat in which the child is from, visited the site where the girl was selling and met her father, who is of Arab nationality, and the necessary action was taken.

The Ministry stresses that the Child Law in Article 45 of Chapter Seven stipulates that “it is prohibited to employ any child in jobs and industries that, by their nature or by the circumstances in which they are engaged, are likely to lead to harm to their health, safety or moral behavior.”
