Muscat: The total fixed-line telephone subscriptions connected to Internet Protocol technology increased by 7.5 percent, while the number of mobile broadband Internet subscribers increased by 6.5 percent by the end of August 2023 compared to the same period in 2022.
Statistics issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information showed that the total fixed-line telephone subscriptions connected to Internet Protocol technology amounted to about 279,137 subscriptions by the end of August 2023, while the total subscriptions, including prepaid and post-paid – decreased by 9 percent to reach 229,833 subscriptions.
Statistics showed that the number of mobile phone subscriptions increased by 8 percent by the end of August 2023, recording 7,091,054 subscriptions, the largest number of mobile phone subscriptions were prepaid; The number of subscriptions reached 5,343,210 lines, an increase of 5.2 percent until the end of August 2023.
The number of active mobile broadband Internet subscriptions reached 6,072,503 subscriptions.
