Khasab: The Ministry of Health (MOH) was keen to improve primary and secondary health care services in Musandam Governorate through the implementation of strategic development projects.
Ali bin Abdullah Al Shehhi, Director General of the General Directorate of Health Services in Musandam Governorate, said: The project to establish the new Khasab Hospital is a qualitative leap in health services in Musandam Governorate due to its specifications, modern facilities and international standards in providing therapeutic and diagnostic services to patients.
He added that the new hospital took into account population density, geographical dimension and social dimensions when constructing it, noting that the total completion rate of the project so far is estimated at 64.9 percent, and the structural works have been completed by 100 percent.
He explained that the hospital will include multiple specialized therapeutic services that patients need, which will meet the treatment needs of citizens and reduce the burden of transportation to other governorates, noting that the hospital is one of the most important projects in the development system in the governorate.
He pointed out that the new Khasab Hospital project is being built on a land with a total area of approximately (100,000) square meters, and the built-up area of the project is approximately (36,000) square meters, and the main building of the hospital consists of three floors with a capacity of approximately 164 beds.
The new hospital includes a number of inpatient wards in various specialties for men and women, such as a surgery ward, an internal diseases ward, a gynecology and obstetrics ward, and a children’s ward. It also contains (5) beds in the adult intensive care unit and (5) beds in the pediatric intensive care unit, in addition to (18) beds. In the intensive care unit for newborns and premature infants. There are (6) beds in the maternity halls, (6) beds in the accident, emergency and resuscitation unit, (7) beds in the day care unit, (10) dialysis units, and (4) beds in the cardiology care unit, in addition to the burn unit, operating rooms and their annexes.
The project also contains a department for diagnostic radiology in various specialties, a multi-specialty laboratory, a central pharmacy, a recreational area for visitors, service buildings accompanying the hospital, a training and education hall, laundry services, warehouses, generators and tanks, a sterilization unit, a kitchen, and an engineering and medical equipment department.
The project includes administration offices, service buildings, medical stores, general stores, a water treatment plant, a helipad, backup electric generators, and other public services such as parking for employees and visitors. He added that the new Madha Hospital project was established on a building area of 9,723 square meters, and the current completion rate is 83 percent.
He explained that the project consists of a main building with two floors and contains an emergency unit with 8 observation beds, a dialysis unit, and an outpatient clinic building that includes 16 clinics, including two dental clinics, in addition to a radiology department that contains a room for CT scans, an X-ray room, and a room for mammography. The project also consists of a pathology department with a blood bank, a maternity department containing four obstetric rooms, as well as an intensive care unit with two beds, an intensive care unit with two beds, and one operating room. It also includes a department for sterilizing instruments. The project contains hospitalization wards consisting of 40 beds, in addition to a laundry unit, and some service facilities.
The Director General of the General Directorate of Health Services in Musandam Governorate continued, saying: Bukha Local Hospital provides primary care to approximately 4,500 residents of Bukha State and its affiliated villages. The Lima Center provides primary care for approximately 2,500 people, residents of the Lima District and nearby maritime villages. As for the Kamzar Health Center, it provides primary health care to the 1,600 residents of the village of Kamzar and its nearby villages.
He said: The regional medical warehouse project, which was assigned to the company implementing it, is a strategic project aimed at securing medicines and medical supplies for health institutions in Musandam Governorate, so that there is a strategic stock of health supplies in the governorate.
He concluded by saying that health projects in Musandam Governorate are strategic and investment developments that add qualitative and quantitative value to health services in the governorate, which will hopefully achieve a great deal of sufficiency at the governorate level and reduce the need for referrals outside health institutions in Musandam Governorate.
