MoH Launches Projects to Improve Medical Services at Khoula, Al Nahda Hospitals

Muscat: Represented by the Directorate General of Khoula Hospital, the Ministry of Health (MoH) today launched a number of projects to improve medical services, cut down lists of patients waiting for specialized medical services and localize some services in Khoula Hospital, Al Nahda Hospital and Al Wattayah Gynaecology and Obstetrics Complex.

The ceremony took place at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre under the auspices of Dr. Hilal Ali Al Sabti, Minister of Health.

The minister stressed the importance of the partnership between the public and private sectors in achieving sustainable health services. He pointed out that, over the past few years, the health sector faced major challenges as a result of the growing number of morbid cases, but the continuous efforts of all workers in the health sector have had a tangible positive impact. He added that efforts of the government and the support of partners in the private sector played a great role in the improvement of functioning of the health in Oman.

For his part, Dr. Rashid Mohammed Al Alawi, Director General of Khoula Hospital, pointed out that the projects carried out jointly by the public and private sectors include updating facilities, replacing and introducing new devices and localizing quality operations. Financing backing to the General Directorate of Khoula Hospital during the past two years stood at RO 4 million, he added.

Al Alawi pointed out that the 5 projects were supported by the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), Al Yusr Charitable Foundation, OMIFCO and Al Jisr Charitable Foundation. The backing of those institutions included funding and purchasing medical equipment.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Al Sabti, Minister of Health felicitated government and private establishments that supported the projects at the General Directorate of Khoula Hospital.
