MoHESRI opens ‘Virtual Reality and Simulation Lab’ in Sur

SUR: The Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation (MHESRI) opened today the “Simulation and Virtual Reality Laboratory” for the automotive technology specialization at the Vocational College in Sur, which is equipped with the latest devices and equipment with advanced technologies.

The opening was sponsored by His Excellency Dr. Yahya bin Badr Al-Maawali, Governor of South Al Sharqiyah, in the presence of Her Excellency Dr. Mona bint Salem Al-Jardaniyah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation for Vocational Training. The project, which was established in cooperation with OMIFCO and Bahwan Cybertech, aims to enable students and college trainees to use these laboratories as modeling centers within the national innovation system in line with the goals of Oman Vision 2040, and will contribute significantly to raising the educational level and delving deeper into the science of modern automotive technologies.

Dr. Khalid bin Abdulaziz Ambusaidi, Director General of Vocational Training at the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, said that the simulation and virtual reality laboratory project for the automotive technology major at the Vocational College in Sur comes to enhance integrated strategic partnerships between vocational education and training institutions and the private sector to support the knowledge economy.

He added that the laboratory aims to keep pace with developments in educational and training programs and curricula in line with the requirements of the labor market and keep pace with scientific and technological changes, and to raise the efficiency of Omani cadres with future technologies and skills and build them to be able to compete locally and globally, in addition to improving the outcomes of vocational training.

For his part, Khalid bin Sulaiman Al Farsi, General Manager of Supply Chain at OMEFCO, said: “The project will contribute to raising the quality of vocational training outcomes in the field of automotive engineering, in addition to strengthening the strategic partnership in the fields of higher education, scientific research, and innovation, and contributing to strengthening institutional cooperation.”
