More than 1.5 Million Vehicles on Oman roads by the end of 2020

Muscat: The total number of vehicles in the Sultanate by the end of December 2020 reached about 1,557, 453 vehicles registered, an increase of 0.6 percent compared to the end of 2019.

The data issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information (NSCI) indicated that the number of vehicles with private registration increased by 1.5 percent compared to the end of 2019, to reach 1,221,302 vehicles, followed by commercial vehicles with 239,639 vehicles, then taxi vehicles numbered 29,931 vehicles, a decrease of 5.3 percent .

The statistics showed that the number of rental vehicles decreased by the end of December 2020 by 8.6 percent to reach 24,178 vehicles, and the number of vehicles with temporary registration (numbers that are used for a simple period for the purposes of pre-registration checks and import and export vehicles) reached 15,351 vehicles, an increase of 27% from the end of the year. 2019 , and the number of vehicles with government registration (which do not include military vehicles) decreased by 2.3 percent, to 12,695 vehicles registered at the end of last December, and the number of motorcycles decreased by 3.1 percent to reach 6,466 vehicles.

While the number of driving education vehicles reached 5, 730 vehicles, and the number of agricultural tractors reached 1,304, an increase of 1.4 percent from the end of 2019, while the number of vehicles of political bodies reached 857 vehicles, an increase of 0.4 percent from the end of 2019. – (NSCI)
