More than 275,000 Omanis work in the private sector, percentage of job seekers has increased

Muscat: The monthly bulletin of the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI) issued revealed that the total national workforce in the private sector amounted to 275,529 Omanis at the end of March.

The highest percentage of them was in wage categories below the 400 Omani riyals, reaching 83,308 Omanis. The Governorate of Muscat embraces the vast majority of the national workforce, with 86,871 Omanis, constituting a rate of 31.5%.

The monthly bulletin showed that 48.7% of Omanis working in the private sector are insured with a wage category ranging between 325 – less than 500 Omani riyals per month at the end of last March.

The total expatriate labor force in the Sultanate of Oman at the end of last March reached 1,485,123 expatriates, an increase of 2.8% over the same period last year.

While the monthly bulletin indicated that the percentage of job seekers reached 2.3% at the end of last month, compared to 2.1% last February.
