More than 7K wild seedlings distribution in an environmental initiative in Al Dhahirah Governorate
Ibri: An Omani environmental initiative in Al Dhahirah Governorate kicked off through the distribution of more than 7,000 seedlings of wild trees to various public and private establishments and individuals.
The aim is to spread greenery in an open area where the growth of wild plants can maintain the ecological balance upright. The initiative is based on volunteers’ collecting seeds and plants from various desert and mountainous environments, valleys and plains and then nurse the stocks in large quantities in a “seed bank”.
The seedlings would then be used for research aimed at preserving the species of rare and endangered plants and trees, to ensure their sustainable growth in the Omani environment.
