Muscat: The Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) in Barka successfully resolved a consumer complaint involving a vehicle purchase where malfunctions appeared shortly after the initial use.

The Consumer Protection Department in Barka, in collaboration with the concerned parties, facilitated an amicable settlement between the consumer and the vehicle agency, resulting in a refund of OMR 15,050 to the consumer.

The complaint originated when a consumer purchased a vehicle for OMR 15,050 and encountered malfunctions during the early days of usage. Upon contacting the dealership, the consumer was asked to pay an additional OMR 500 to rectify the issue.

Dissatisfied with this request, the consumer escalated the matter to the Consumer Protection Department in Barka. Subsequently, the department intervened by summoning the dealership for resolution discussions. Through the efforts of the Consumer Protection Department, a mutually agreed settlement was reached between the consumer and the agency.

As a result, the agency refunded the full amount of OMR 15,050 to the consumer. Such successful settlements illustrate the vital role of the Consumer Protection Authority in safeguarding consumer rights and holding accountable those who fail to adhere to consumer protection laws and regulations.
