Moringa cultivation is popular with farmers in Al Dhahirah Governorate

Ibri: Scientific information and research related to the Moringa tree has boosted the demand of farmers in Al Dhahirah Governorate to plant and take care of it, due to its therapeutic benefits and multiple preventive properties.

The Directorate General of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources in Al Dhahirah Governorate, represented by the Pastoral Resources Nursery, distributed about 161 seedlings of Moringa trees during the third quarter of last year only, which reflects the citizens’ desire to plant it in order to benefit from the characteristics of its high nutritional value leaves and its fruits, which have become part of at the local table for some.

Engineer Masoud bin Khalifa Al Riyami, Head of the Pastoral Resources Department at the General Directorate of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources in Al Dhahirah Governorate, explained that the process of propagating Moringa trees is by planting seeds, as it is possible to propagate them during the various months of the year except during the somewhat cold months such as the December, January and February.

Al-Riyami pointed to the high demand for planting the Moringa tree by farmers, especially livestock breeders and those interested in raising honey bees, as it is an important source as fodder for animals, whether leaves or fruits (pods) that have not reached the stage of full growth (hardening), as well as its flowers are important for honey bees, and some use it Juicy seeds as human food.

Moringa oil extracted from Moringa seeds is one of the important oils in the medical and therapeutic industries for allergic conditions, eczema, psoriasis, in addition to its versatility in cosmetic products because it contains many health benefits for the skin and body.
