Muscat: The Ministry of Social Development (MoSD) today issued a ministerial decision to regulate the operations of day-care centres serving the elderly.
The regulatory procedures include licensing requirements, obligations of a day-care centre management, conditions governing the enrolment of the elderly in the day-care centres, cancellation of the licences, fees and administrative penalties.
Day-care centres for the elderly provide social, rehabilitation and psychological services, among other types of assistance to the elderly (people aged 60 years or more).
The centres offer a safe environment for the elderly and helps them gain the skills and experiences necessary for utilizing their free time.
The centres also encourage community members to volunteer in serving elderly people facing health or psychological challenges and enable them to play an active role in serving the community.
