Salalah: The Municipal Council of Dhofar Governorate held a meeting today under the chairmanship of His Highness Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar and Chairman of the Council.
The meeting discussed a number of issues related to the development of services and municipal work in the various states of the governorate, and approved the minutes of the seventh council meeting and the recommendations it contained.
During the meeting, the Council was briefed on the results of the meetings of the Council’s main committees, and discussed the proposals submitted by the Health and Environmental Affairs Committee to meet the requirements of accelerated development in expanding the infrastructure of the sewage system and extending the sewage network to old residential plans and heritage areas in Dhofar Governorate.
The Council discussed the results of the Council’s Legal Affairs Committee’s meeting with the competent authorities, regarding proposals related to limiting the employment of expatriate workers in Sanad Services offices, and ensuring that office operators adhere to the regulations for Sanad Services Centers and the systems and procedures governing office work activities, in addition to the results of the Council’s Social Affairs Committee’s meeting with Director of the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Office in the Dhofar Governor’s Office; To learn about the strategic priorities and objectives in the social aspect.
The Council also discussed recommendations related to activating national efforts for drug and psychotropic substance affairs in combating drug trafficking through supervision and control, and creating plans, programmes, activities and events to enhance community awareness of their harms and negative effects.
The Council reviewed the results of the report of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in the Sultanate of Oman regarding the dialogue session for students that was organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and the Children First Association, in addition to examining the results of the joint meeting between members of the Governorate Development Committee and the Council’s Health and Environmental Affairs Committee. To conduct a joint study and reading in coordination with the competent authorities, which aims to develop the livestock sector in the governorate.
The Council also discussed many topics and proposals received, including a statement from the General Directorate of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries and Water Resources regarding the formation of a branch of the Omani Fishermen’s Association in Dhofar Governorate.
