Municipal Council of Muscat Governorate holds first meeting for 2023

Muscat: The Municipal Council of Muscat Governorate held its first meeting for this year, chaired by His Excellency Sayyid Saud bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Governor of Muscat and Chairman of the Municipal Council.

The meeting began with approving the minutes of the extraordinary session of the Council for the year 2023 AD, after which the timetable for the meetings of the Council and its committees during the current year was reviewed.

The Council also discussed the Communications Regulatory Authority’s response on the topic (the impact of social networking sites and electronic games on society), where His Excellency stressed the importance of continuing to study the subject in all its dimensions in the Council in coordination with the concerned authorities, given its importance in preserving values ​​and morals.

Zamzam Bint Hussain Al Balushi – a legal researcher at the Secretariat of the Municipal Council – gave a visual presentation introducing the Municipal Councils Law, its executive regulations and the most prominent articles contained therein in accordance with Royal Decree No. (38/2022), in addition to the councils’ terms of reference and the rights and duties of members.
