“Musandam Lodge” project to enhance tourism investment in the governorate

Khasab: Musandam Governorate, in partnership with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the College of Tourism, today launched the “Musandam Lodge” project, which aims to encourage the governorate’s residents to invest in establishing and developing tourist lodges in coastal and mountain villages in line with international standards.

The project was launched during a workshop organized by the Oman Tourism College in cooperation with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Musandam Branch, under the patronage of His Excellency Sayyid Ibrahim bin Saeed Al Busaidi, Governor of Musandam.

The workshop included the presentation of a number of papers on tourist lodges in the Sultanate of Oman and the importance of developing them as one of the pillars of tourism development.

Dr. Hamad bin Mohammed Al Mahrazi, Dean of the Oman College of Tourism, gave a speech in which he stressed the importance of tourist lodges in developing the tourism sector.

The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism also presented a working paper on the laws and legislation regulating tourist lodges, while Sultan Qaboos University presented a working paper on the importance of tourist lodges in promoting sustainable tourism and preserving natural resources, in addition to presenting studies on the best international practices in this field.

His Excellency Sayyid Ibrahim bin Saeed Al Busaidi, Governor of Musandam, said that the “Musandam Lodge” project seeks to achieve a set of objectives, including meeting the growing demand for tourist accommodation in the governorate and promoting local and international tourism by providing diverse accommodation options that meet the aspirations of tourists, which contributes to enhancing Musandam’s position as a major tourist destination, in addition to encouraging residents and owners of small and medium enterprises in Musandam Governorate to invest in the tourism sector, which enhances local economic development and provides job opportunities for the region’s residents in the hospitality and tourism sector.

His Excellency stressed the strategic role played by the project in achieving the governorate’s vision to develop the tourism sector in a way that contributes to the development of the local economy.

He also called on investors from the governorate’s people to exploit the available investment opportunities and benefit from the incentives provided to develop tourist lodge projects.
