Muscat: The number of passengers through the Sultanate of Oman’s airports increased by 11.9 percent in the first half of 2024, recording 7 million, 74 thousand, and 854 passengers on board 53 thousand, 316 flights, compared to 6 million, 322 thousand, and 152 passengers on board 49 thousand, 13 flights in the first half of 2023, according to preliminary statistics issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information.
The number of passengers through Muscat International Airport by the end of June 2024 reached about 6 million, 386 thousand, and 267 passengers, an increase of 11.8 percent, who traveled on board 48 thousand, 52 flights, an increase in the number of flights of 8.7 percent.
Among the flights, there were 44,023 international flights, with 5,893,872 passengers on board, and 4,029 domestic flights, with 492,395 passengers on board.
The number of passengers traveling through Salalah Airport reached 628,951 passengers, an increase of 10.9 percent compared to the end of June 2023, traveling on 4,688 flights, an increase of 7.3 percent.
The number of international flights through Salalah Airport reached 2,475 flights, with 306,989 passengers on board, while the number of domestic flights reached 2,213 flights, with 321,962 passengers on board.
The number of passengers traveling through Sohar Airport reached 29,751 passengers on board 268 flights, while the number of passengers traveling through Duqm Airport reached 29,885 passengers on board 308 flights.
Regarding the most prominent nationalities moving at Muscat International Airport, the Indian nationality topped the highest number of passengers on departing and arriving flights through the airport with a total of 185,389 passengers by the end of June 2024 (73,762 passengers arriving and 111,627 passengers departing), followed by the Omani nationality with a total of 131,108 passengers (57,585 passengers arriving and 73,523 passengers departing), and then the Pakistani nationality with a total of 52,925 passengers (26,152 passengers arriving and 26,773 passengers departing).
