Muscat International Airport Welcomes China Eastern Airlines

Muscat: Oman Airports welcomed this evening the first inaugural flight of China Eastern Airlines from Beijing Daxing International Airport to Muscat International Airport, announcing the launch of a direct air route between Muscat and Beijing with two flights per week.

The launch of the inaugural flight of China Eastern Airlines comes in cooperation with the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Tourism and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China.

The new route will boost tourism and facilitate trade and investment between the Sultanate of Oman and the People’s Republic of China.

The new route via Muscat International Airport and Beijing International Capital will enable the operation of two weekly flights on Sundays and Wednesdays, using Airbus A330-300 aircraft with a capacity of 299 seats, which will enhance the efficiency of air connectivity and meet the needs of travelers of different categories.

His Excellency Azzan bin Qasim Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Tourism, stated that the new route is not merely an air link, but a bridge of friendship and cooperation, connecting two ancient civilizations with deep historical roots and a shared vision for a bright future. He added that it opens up broad horizons for cultural, tourism, and economic exchange between the Sultanate of Oman and the People’s Republic of China. He commended the joint cooperation of China Eastern Airlines and Beijing Daxing International Airport, which contributed to the launch of the route, a move that will enhance growth, prosperity, and cultural exchange between the two friendly nations.

For his part, Ahmed bin Saeed Al Amri, CEO of Oman Airports, confirmed that the launch of the direct route between the Sultanate of Oman and the People’s Republic of China represents a strategic addition to the network of international destinations, noting that it will contribute to supporting the tourism and investment sectors and enhancing the Sultanate of Oman’s position as an important regional center in the fields of aviation and logistics.

Xie Zhongmei, Economic and Commercial Counselor at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Sultanate of Oman, explained that the inaugural flight of China Eastern Airlines is one of the first Chinese companies to operate its first flights between Muscat and Beijing, noting that the flight will contribute to increasing the flow of tourists from the People’s Republic of China to the Sultanate of Oman and increasing trade and investment exchange between the two friendly countries.
