Muscat Nights 2026: A Platform for Economic Empowerment and Cultural Celebration

Muscat Nights Blends Entertainment with Economic and Cultural Development

Muscat:  The “Muscat Nights” 2026 events, held across several locations in Muscat Governorate, have emerged as a comprehensive platform combining entertainment, culture, and economic empowerment, with a strong focus on supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and productive families, thereby expanding local economic impact and enhancing community participation.

This year’s events witnessed wide participation from SMEs and productive families, who showcased their products across multiple fields, including traditional crafts, heritage industries, and popular Omani foods, offering visitors a rich cultural and commercial experience.

Eng. Yasser bin Salem Al-Amri, a member of the preparatory committee for Muscat Nights 2026, stated that the events have evolved from being a seasonal entertainment occasion into a strategic economic empowerment platform, integrating entertainment with clear developmental objectives. He noted that the initiative provides SMEs with valuable promotional opportunities, supports live marketing, and allows direct engagement between producers and consumers.

For his part, Ahmed bin Badr Al-Yahmedi, from the Wilayat of Bidiyah and owner of the Bidiyah Hills for Omani Heritage project, explained that his project focuses on highlighting the craftsmanship of the Omani dagger (khanjar) and women’s jewelry in terms of design and symbolism, while preserving the authenticity of Omani heritage. He noted that his repeated participation in Muscat Nights reflects the sustained public turnout and interest in heritage-based projects.

Meanwhile, Laila bint Abdullah Al-Maawali, owner of a popular food project, emphasized that participation in Muscat Nights represents an important empowerment opportunity for productive families and reinforces the presence of traditional Omani cuisine as a core component of national cultural identity.

The Heritage Village at Al Amerat Park stands out as one of the most prominent cultural attractions of Muscat Nights 2026, attracting more than 450 craftsmen, craftswomen, and folk arts performers from across the Sultanate, presenting a comprehensive display of Omani heritage, folk arts, and traditional industries.

Hassan bin Ali Al Balushi, Supervisor of the Heritage Village at Al Amerat Park, told Oman News Agency (ONA) that the organizers are keen to ensure diversity, particularly in the heritage component, to deliver an integrated experience that blends entertainment, knowledge, and national identity.

He explained that the village was designed as a living environment that reflects traditional Omani lifestyles. The urban environment section includes about 45 participants, showcasing daily customs and women’s handicrafts. The Bedouin environment features 15 participants, displaying traditional crafts, tents serving authentic Omani coffee, and live performances on the rababa instrument.

The craftsmen’s market includes 17 artisans specializing in pottery, palm frond crafts, weaving, and silverwork, presented through live demonstrations that highlight production stages and cultural significance. In addition, 20 folk arts groups from various wilayats perform daily, presenting traditional arts such as Al Razha, Al Azi, and Al Ayala.

The village also features a folk games corner with 10 participants, introducing visitors—especially younger generations—to traditional recreational practices. The incense, perfume, and frankincense market includes 14 craftswomen, while the popular food corner hosts 27 craftswomen offering a wide range of traditional Omani dishes.

Al Balushi concluded that the participation of this large number of craftsmen and craftswomen provides direct support to traditional industries, strengthens economic empowerment, and reinforces values of belonging and pride in Omani identity among future generations.
