More Than 600,000 Attend Muscat Nights 2026 as Events Continue Until End of January
Muscat: The number of visitors to the Muscat Nights 2026 events has exceeded 600,000 since their launch across various locations in Muscat Governorate, reflecting a strong public turnout and wide community engagement in the current edition of the events.
The diversity of activities and events held at multiple sites—including parks, gardens, shopping centres, and tourist landmarks—has played a significant role in boosting tourism, economic, and cultural activity in the governorate. The programme combines cultural, artistic, sports, and entertainment elements, alongside competitions and cultural evenings, providing residents and visitors with opportunities to enjoy the winter atmosphere through a wide range of experiences.
Muscat Municipality has intensified its promotional efforts for Muscat Nights 2026 in its new format by effectively leveraging various media platforms, including audio, print, and visual outlets. This was achieved through cooperation with radio stations, television channels, local newspapers, and digital media platforms, which provided extensive coverage of events and highlighted key activities across the eight designated locations.
The effective use of digital media has further expanded audience reach across different age groups through innovative imagery, videos, and targeted marketing content, in addition to interactive engagement via social media platforms.
Social media coverage of the Muscat Nights events recorded a significant increase in viewership, exceeding 31 million views, including 363,000 impressions on the X platform, 7.37 million views on YouTube, over 15,000 views on Instagram, and more than 5,381 views on Snapchat. This represents a growth rate exceeding 180 percent, attributed to increased community interaction and rising attendance from various segments of society.
This surge in digital engagement has contributed directly to higher on-ground attendance by Omanis, residents, and expatriates of all age groups, creating a vibrant festive atmosphere across event locations. Digital promotional campaigns played a pivotal role in delivering event messages and attracting visitors to the different venues.
Muscat Municipality aims to sustain the upward trend in social media interaction during the coming days, as the events continue until 31 January, particularly in light of the diverse cultural, artistic, and entertainment programmes catering to all segments of society.
Muscat Nights 2026 also serves as a vital platform for showcasing national talents, providing artisans, entrepreneurs, and small and medium enterprise owners with opportunities to present their products and creative works to the public, thereby stimulating cultural and economic activity.
The events are distributed across several locations in Muscat Governorate, including Qurum Natural Park, Al Amerat Public Park, the Oman Automobile Association, the Royal Opera House Muscat, Seeb Beach, Quriyat, Wadi Al Khoudh, as well as major shopping centres.
Coinciding with the celebration of the sixth anniversary of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s accession to the throne on 11 January, Muscat Municipality organised a series of celebratory events blending authentic Omani arts with modern technologies. These included fireworks displays, held for the first time at Aqabat Bousher – Al Amerat, a location chosen for its elevated position allowing wide public viewing across Muscat.
The Wilayat of Bousher also witnessed large crowds attending the fireworks displays, which illuminated the sky with striking visual scenes that reflected the atmosphere of joy and national celebration, leaving a lasting impression on attendees.
Additionally, the drone operetta at Qurum Natural Park presented a modern artistic performance using aerial light formations to narrate a national story showcasing the Sultanate of Oman’s diverse wilayats, emphasizing national unity, identity, and the strong bond between the Omani people and their land under wise leadership.
The celebrations also featured the Lake Operetta, which combined lasers, lighting effects, dancing fountains, and water screens to deliver a distinctive visual experience specially designed for the national occasion, offering audiences an innovative and immersive way to share in the festivities.
