Muscat Resident Strikes Dh20 Million Jackpot in Big Ticket Series 283

Shared Ticket Brings Dh20 Million Win to Indian Expat in Oman

Muscat:  An Indian expatriate residing in the Sultanate of Oman has won Dh20 million in Big Ticket’s Series 283 live draw, after an unexpected phone call revealed the life-changing news.

The winner, Shanthanu Shettigar, 33, a retail sector employee based in Muscat, purchased the winning ticket bearing number 305810 on 20 January 2026. The draw was announced during Big Ticket’s live show at the beginning of the month.

Shettigar, originally from Karnataka, India, has been living in Oman for the past eight years. He said that his participation in Big Ticket raffles began shortly after moving to Muscat, encouraged by colleagues at his workplace.

“When I first moved to Muscat, many of my colleagues were purchasing Big Ticket, which encouraged me to give it a try,” he said. “I started buying tickets on my own, and later began sharing tickets with a close friend. The ticket that brought me this win was one we purchased together.”

During the call informing him of the win, Shettigar expressed disbelief, saying: “Oh my God, seriously? Thank you!”

He confirmed that the winning ticket was jointly purchased with a friend, and that the prize money will be split equally, with Dh10 million going to each of them, in line with their prior agreement.

Despite the magnitude of the prize, Shettigar said he plans to take time before deciding on his next steps.

“This win was completely unexpected,” he said. “I want to think things through carefully before making any decisions.”

Reflecting on his five-year participation in Big Ticket raffles, Shettigar noted that shared participation played a key role in his journey and encouraged others to take part.

“I would definitely encourage others to participate, whether with family or friends,” he said. “You never know when your moment might come.”
