Nama Water Services begins implementation of the Sohar Sewage Project (third phase)

Sohar: Nama Water Services works to implement projects that aim to preserve the environment and public health, protect groundwater sources from pollution, and provide an alternative source of freshwater that can be used to irrigate gardens, green spaces and other uses in light of population and urban growth by expanding wastewater transportation networks, and among the projects that the company is currently implementing is the project to complete the work of constructing a sewerage network in the wilayat of Sohar (the third phase), which aims to complete the work of the previous project and serve the community by connecting approximately 4,200 residential and commercial units in the region and connecting them With the existing sewage network according to the project plans, the project was awarded in December 2023 and it is expected to be completed in December 2025.

Engineer Hassan bin Abdullah bin Muhammad Al Farsi, Director of Projects in the Regional Governorates in the Nama Water Services said that this project will provide wastewater service in some residential and commercial areas in Al-Humbar and Al-Turaif, which were not covered in previous projects. In addition the Ghail Al-Shaboul area and the coastal areas in Al-Sabarah, Al-Shizaw, and Al-Hadheerah, will provide the sewage service by using vacuum technology due to the high groundwater level in these areas. Gulf Petrochemical and Trading Services Company LLC will implement this project.

He added that the project will work to serve the community and reduce their suffering from disposing of sewage waste in a faster, safer and healthier way and reduce the number of sewage transport tanks in the areas, which will contribute to reducing the cost to the participants.

Engineer Hassan bin Abdullah bin Muhammad Al Farsi, Director of Projects in the Regional Governorates, Nama Water Services, and Acting Director General of Water and Sewage Networks also added: “The project to complete the construction of the sewerage network in the Wilayat of Sohar (the third phase) is one of the important projects to complete the infrastructure in the North Al Batinah Governorate. The government’s efforts to provide waste water services in the regional governorates. This project comes to complete the work of the sewage project and rehabilitate the existing sewerage network. The project includes the construction of a sewage network with a length of 40 km, ranging in diameter from 150 to 1000 mm, air vacuum network systems in coastal areas with a total length of 3 km, pumping lines with a total length of 3 km, raising the efficiency of the pumping stations in Al-Hajara, Al-Humbar 6 and Al-Humbar C-1, constructing the lifting station in Ghail Al-Shaboul and completing Construction works at the pumping stations in Al-Turaif and Al-Humbar-1 and the vacuum stations in Al-Hadharah and Al-Shizaw, in addition to completing the construction works for a warehouse and a workshop. The total cost of the project amounts to 11,572,393.084 million Omani riyals, including all its attachments and components.
