    Muscat: A special corner for late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos will be ready by end 2021 : National Museum

    The Secretary-General of the National Museum indicates in an interview with the Oman News Agency that the museum is currently working to establish a corner in the name of the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimur, based on the story of the museum narration, with the aim of conveying a comprehensive picture of the life of the late Majesty Sultan Qaboos.

    It is expected that this special corner will be inaugurated by the end of this year, indicating that the National Museum has received the honor of the High Orders of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik with the devolution of a number of royal holdings that have not been shown publicly before, to be available to all visitors.

    His Excellency the Secretary General of the Museum also indicated that work is underway to create a corner for languages and dialects in Oman to document this important aspect of the moral dimension of Oman, as it will address the development of the Arabic language and its roots and the oldest alphabet discovered in the Arabian Peninsula that was discovered in Oman.

    In his speech, he pointed out that the museum is leading a unique initiative at the regional and international level, as it preserves  a selected group of Syrian antiquities that were damaged during the years of the crisis.

    And within the framework of a cooperation agreement with the Syrian side, the museum has restored about 163 of the 175 archaeological pieces, most notably a group of destroyed antiquities.
