Muscat: The national symposium titled “Food Security in the Sultanate of Oman in Light of Global Changes” began at Al Shafaq Club in Muscat today.
The three-day symposium is organized by the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies,represented by the Centre for Strategic and Defence Studies.
Government, civil and private institutions are taking part in the event.
The symposium comes as a continuation of the national efforts, strategic plans and previous executive initiatives aimed at ensuring the smooth flow of food supplies. It also comes in response to the current global situation and the changes that require careful foresight based on more serious, prudent discussions and well-thought studies at the national level.
The opening ceremony of the symposium was held under the patronage of Maj.Gen Hamid Ahmed Sakroon, Head of the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies. – ONA
