Oman to Host Second Arab Tourism’s Statistics Forum from 14-16 October 2024

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), will host the Second Arab Forum for Tourism Statistics for 2024 in October, in cooperation with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and the League of Arab States.

The forum, which will be held in Muscat from October 14-16, 2024, represents an opportunity to enhance cooperation between Arab countries in the field of tourism statistics. It is expected to contribute to advancing the efforts of the Sultanate of Oman towards achieving its tourism goals and enhancing its position as a distinctive tourist destination in the region.

His Excellency Dr. Khalifa bin Abdullah Al Barwani, CEO of the National Centre for Statistics and Information, said: This forum comes in conjunction with the selection of the Wilayat of Sur as the Arab Tourism Capital for the year 2024, and with the aim of enhancing cooperation between Arab countries in the field of tourism statistics and developing statistical indicators used in measuring and analyzing tourism, noting that the focus will be on exchanging knowledge and expertise between specialists in this field, which will contribute to improving the quality of statistical data and providing accurate information that supports tourism decision-making.

His Excellency explained that tourism statistics are a vital tool in understanding the dynamics of the tourism sector; they help governments and investors identify trends and behavioral patterns of tourists, enabling them to develop effective strategies to promote tourist destinations. These statistics also contribute to improving the infrastructure and services provided to tourists.

His Excellency pointed out that a group of experts and specialists from various countries of the world will participate in the forum, in addition to representatives of regional and international organizations concerned with the statistical and information field and the international tourism sector, as it will constitute an opportunity to exchange ideas and innovations and discuss the challenges facing tourism statistics, adding that the discussion sessions that cover various topics in the field of tourism statistics address the latest trends and technologies in this field.
