Passenger Traffic Through Oman’s Airports Rises 2.8% in 2025
Muscat: Passenger traffic through the airports of the Sultanate of Oman grew by 2.8 percent by the end of December 2025, reaching 14,939,209 passengers, compared to 14,537,674 passengers recorded during the same period in 2024.
According to data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), the total number of incoming and outgoing flights across Oman’s airports stood at 104,510 by the end of December 2025, compared to 107,546 flights in 2024, marking a decline of 2.8 percent.
Muscat International Airport
International flights through Muscat International Airport reached 82,913 by the end of December 2025, compared to 86,797 flights in 2024, reflecting a decrease of 4.5 percent. However, passenger numbers on international flights rose by 1.3 percent to 11,838,223 passengers, up from 11,681,790 passengers.
Domestic traffic at Muscat International Airport recorded notable growth. The number of domestic flights increased to 9,606 compared to 9,009 flights, representing a rise of 6.6 percent. Passenger numbers on domestic routes grew by 12 percent to 1,319,336 passengers, compared to 1,178,163 passengers in 2024.
Salalah Airport
Salalah Airport recorded 4,886 international flights by the end of December 2025, compared to 5,008 flights during the same period in 2024, a decrease of 2.4 percent. Passenger numbers on international routes reached 678,591 passengers, compared to 678,402 passengers.
Domestic flights at Salalah Airport increased significantly to 6,227 flights compared to 5,450 flights, marking a growth rate of 14.3 percent. Passenger numbers on domestic flights rose by 17.7 percent to 1,023,529 passengers, compared to 869,954 passengers.
Sohar Airport
Sohar Airport witnessed a sharp decline in international air traffic. The number of international flights dropped to 110 compared to 495 flights, a decrease of 77.8 percent. Passenger numbers on these flights fell to 390 passengers, compared to 44,897 passengers, a decline of 99.1 percent.
Domestic flights at Sohar Airport decreased to 150 flights compared to 165 flights, marking a drop of 9.1 percent. Passenger numbers declined by 21.8 percent to 18,247 passengers, compared to 23,331 passengers.
Duqm Airport
Duqm Airport recorded 618 domestic flights by the end of December 2025, compared to 622 flights during the same period in 2024, a slight decrease of 0.6 percent. Passenger numbers stood at 60,893 passengers, compared to 61,137 passengers, reflecting a marginal decline of 0.4 percent.
The NCSI noted that these indicators highlight the continued development of travel and passenger movement through Oman’s airports, underscoring their role in supporting economic and tourism activity and enhancing air connectivity at both local and international levels.
