Oman Air Expands Russian Network with Sochi Service

Muscat:  Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, has announced the expansion of its international network with the launch of new direct weekly flights to the Russian city of Sochi.

The move enhances air connectivity between Oman and Russia and opens broader prospects for tourism and travel between the two countries.

Flights are scheduled to commence on 2 July 2026 and will operate year-round, providing travellers with direct access to one of Russia’s leading leisure destinations overlooking the Black Sea. The new route further strengthens Oman Air’s growing presence in the Russian market, in response to increasing demand from Russian travellers seeking to visit the Sultanate of Oman.

Oman Air currently operates direct flights between Moscow and Muscat with a frequency of up to 11 flights per week. The airline also launched charter flights between Moscow and Salalah in December 2025. This expansion forms part of the carrier’s broader strategy to increase direct passenger traffic to Oman, stimulate tourism revenues and support related sectors.

Con Korfiatis, CEO of Oman Air, stated that the airline continues to identify well-studied strategic opportunities to connect Oman with new and emerging destinations. He noted that the Sochi route responds to growing demand between Oman and Russia and reinforces the airline’s position as a leading carrier offering a distinguished travel experience across key tourism and business markets.

He added that the year-round weekly service will support inbound tourism to Oman, boost related sectors and enhance trade and investment exchange between the two countries. Russia, he said, remains a promising tourism market for Oman, with improved air connectivity facilitating visitor flows and strengthening bilateral economic ties.

The Muscat–Sochi service will be operated using Boeing 737-8 aircraft, offering passengers enhanced comfort and onboard services.
