Sultan Qaboos University Awards Strategic Research Grants in 2026
Muscat: Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) today announced the winning research projects of the Royal Grant for Strategic Research Projects during its celebration of the 26th University Day.
The event was held under the patronage of Dr. Madiha Ahmed Al Shaibani, Minister of Education.
A total of nine research projects received the grant, covering fields including health, artificial intelligence, energy, environment, and economic development.
Prof. Amer bin Saif Al Hinai, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, said the awarded projects reflect national priorities and contribute to sustainable development through applied research and innovation.
He added that scientific research plays a key role in addressing national challenges, supporting economic growth, and enhancing the competitiveness of institutions.
The ceremony included presentations highlighting the university’s research achievements, alongside an address by Qais bin Saud Al Zakwani, CEO of Nama Water Services, who announced initiatives to support postgraduate studies and research.
An agreement was also signed between SQU and Occidental Oman to enhance cooperation in research, training, and skills development.
