Muscat: The Oman Center for Traditional Music of the Sultan Qaboos Higher Center for Culture and Science at the Diwan of Royal Court has issued the ninth issue, “June 2023,” of the “Omani Music” electronic magazine.

This issue includes a variety of topics. The most prominent of what was mentioned in this issue in the “Artistic Rawashen” corner is an interview with Prof. Dr. Essam Al-Mallah, Advisor to the Board of Directors for Programs and Events at the Royal Opera House Muscat, where the meeting included a talk about his early interest in Western music and the circumstances and opportunities that introduced him to the Sultanate of Oman to his obtaining the Sultan Qaboos Medal. For culture, science and arts first class.

The issue also included a survey about the Oud instrument by Dr. Ghalia Issa from the Sultanate of Oman. And an article entitled: “The Mutabak” is one of the traditional wind instruments in Iraq by Dr. Habib Thaher Al-Abbas from the Republic of Iraq. Ms. Heba Muhammad Moeen Turjman from the Syrian Arab Republic also participated in an article entitled: “Revisiting Critical Visions of the Musical Heritage” by Abu Khalil Al-Qabbani. The issue also included an article entitled: “Mohammed Zuwayed’s artistic and personal life journey” by Mr. Ibrahim Habib from the Kingdom of Bahrain, in which he tells the artistic activity of the late artist and the success and distinction he achieved during his artistic career.

The issue also included an article by Abd al-Salam Jadallah, a poet and media personality from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, entitled: “Whispering Rhythms (Al-Naiyyat)”. The issue concluded with a picture of a postage stamp (the kinetic performance of the field style) issued by the Oman Center for Traditional Music in cooperation with Oman Post in 2020. It is worth noting that this quarterly electronic magazine is concerned with publishing research and studies related to Omani music in particular and non-Omani music in general.
