North Al Sharqiyah Governor reviews the agricultural investment project in Al Mudaibi

Al Mudhaibi:  To find out about the qualitative economic and commercial projects for the residents of North Al Sharqiyah Governorate, His Excellency Sheikh Ali bin Ahmed Al Shamsi, Governor of North Al Sharqiyah, reviewed the agricultural investment project in the Wilayat of Al Mudhaibi, value is about OMR 11.5 million, with the aim of encouraging it and discussing areas Developing and developing them in order to achieve investment and commercial marketing in various economic projects, and encourage projects that support food security in the Sultanate of Oman.

His Excellency got acquainted with the details of the project and how to manage and take care of it through the cultivation of many local crops that are marketed in the local markets in the various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman and some markets of neighboring countries and countries of the world.

Amer bin Ali Al-Shabibi, project manager, says: The project is one of the vital projects that contribute to supplying the local market and supporting food security in the Sultanate of Oman, indicating that the project covers a total area estimated at more than 500 thousand square meters, and includes 52 greenhouses of different sizes. Equal, in addition to three houses of large sizes, and the cultivated areas in each house range from 3 to 7 acres.

He added that the project goes through three main stages: the first stage is the stage of laying the foundations and the general structure, and the second stage is the stage of collecting, packaging and cooling the products in preparation for marketing them in the local markets and the markets of neighboring countries and countries of the world, indicating that this stage is related to the development of the project through opening marketing outlets and implementing an assembly project. Agricultural crops from farmers in North Al Sharqiyah states and marketing them to various markets.

As for the third phase of the project, it is the phase of changing the structure of greenhouses to refrigerated houses and the use of hydroponics in order to reduce water consumption in the project.

He explained that a number of seasonal agricultural crops such as tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and other leafy vegetables are currently being cultivated, provided that a number of crops commensurate with the nature and temperature of the climate in the region will be expanded in the future, such as strawberries, grapes and other crops.

It is worth noting that the investment project in the Wilayat of Al-Mudhaibi includes the model agricultural house that targets students of schools, colleges and universities in the Sultanate of Oman, as the house allows researchers and those interested in the agricultural field to conduct research studies and scientific experiments.
