North Al Sharqiyah Winter 2024 activities begins January 20

Ibra: The North Al Sharqiyah Governorate revealed the details of the activities of “North Al Sharqiyah Winter 2024”, which begins on the 20th of this January and continues until the 10th of next February in the governorate’s states with wide participation from public and private sector institutions and members of the local community in the governorate.

Mahmoud bin Yahya Al Dhahli, Governor of North Al Sharqiyah, said: The “North Al Sharqiyah Winter 2024” activities come to promote, enhance and support the tourism, investment and entertainment aspects in the governorate, as the events that last more than “20” days seek to create a winter family atmosphere for visitors, in addition to promoting tourism. In the governorate’s states, as it is an important tourist destination in the Sultanate of Oman, as well as supporting small and medium enterprises and productive families through their participation and benefit from the activities, all of which will be held in Bidiya Public Park, and some specific locations in the governorate’s states.

He pointed out that the First Oman Desert Tourism Forum, which is organized by the branch of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate, is the most prominent event of the winter event, which is organized to enhance economic mobility and stimulate tourism in the governorate, as a number of officials in the investment and tourism sector and officials of travel and tourism companies and desert camps participate in it. And project owners related to the desert winter season.

The forum will include the signing of a number of agreements and cooperation partnerships with a number of private sector institutions specialized in tourism and hotel promotion and marketing.

He explained that the activities vary between entertainment, tourism, sports, cultural and other fields, as the activities begin with the holding of the Oman Desert Marathon races in its ninth edition, where the races, which were divided into four stages and a length of “165” kilometers, will start from the village of Al Wasil in the Wilayat of Bidiya and will continue in the eastern sands with the participation of more than 700 participants from various countries of the world, in addition to participants from the Sultanate of Oman and from different age groups.

He stated that the events will include holding a triple challenge tournament in the state of Wadi Bani Khalid for a distance of 15 kilometers in the rocky water challenge, the mountain challenge, and the cross-country challenge, at the level of teams and individuals, and holding heritage village activities in Bidiya Public Park.

He stressed that what distinguishes this season’s activities is the holding of bicycle races and motorcycle shows that will be held in the wilayat of Dimma and Al Tayyin, where the bicycle race is divided into three stages, which are the fun and enjoyment stage.

It has been allocated to two categories, the first is the children’s category 6-12 years old, and the second is the 13-year-olds category. -16 years for a distance of two kilometers, and the second stage is the challenge and excitement stage and is allocated to two categories, which are the youth category 17-39 years old and the category of “40” years and above, for a distance of “61” kilometers, while the third stage is designated for people of determination with special needs and for a distance of “32” kilometers. As for the motorcycle event, it will be held with the participation of motorcycle enthusiasts from inside and outside the Sultanate of Oman.
