184 Future Doctors Take First Clinical Step at NUST White Coat Ceremony

White Coat Ceremony Marks Start of Clinical Training for NUST Medical Students

Sohar: Represented by the College of Medicine and Health Sciences in Sohar, the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) today held the White Coat Ceremony for its 21st batch of medical students, comprising 184 future doctors.

The ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr. Ahmed bin Salim Al Mandhari, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Planning and Health Regulation.

Dr. Ali bin Saud Al Bimani, Vice-Chancellor of the National University of Science and Technology, affirmed the university’s commitment to providing an advanced academic environment and strengthening cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, the Ministry of Health, and other government and private institutions. He noted that this cooperation has contributed to preparing a generation of competent doctors capable of delivering high-quality healthcare services to the community.

For his part, Prof. Mohammed bin Ali Al Shaf’ee, Dean of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, stated that the annual White Coat Ceremony represents a global tradition marking the beginning of clinical training. He explained that the ceremony instills professional and ethical values and introduces students to the noble humanitarian mission of the medical profession.

Al Shaf’ee added that the White Coat symbolizes confidence, humility, and responsibility. Together with the recitation of the Medical Oath, it embodies a commitment to upholding medical ethics in serving patients, society, and humanity at large.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, the chief guest honored a number of public health institutions and physicians in appreciation of their cooperation in providing clinical training for students of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences. He then presented the White Coats to the future doctors.
