OCCI discusses study on business competitiveness, financing economic diversification sectors

Muscat: The Board of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) reaffirmed the government’s care and attention for supporting the private sector and empowering it to play its aspired roles for integration with the Omani economic system, as the private sector witnessed tangible and effective activity in economic development during 2023 and took initiative in the field of economic diversification.

This came during the 8th meeting of the Board of  OCCI for 2023, chaired by HE Faisal bin Abdullah Al Rawas, Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in the presence of Board members. The meeting approved conducting a study on business competitiveness in the Sultanate of Oman as a reference for various departments in the country in order to improve the business environment and its attractiveness.

The meeting also approved inviting tenders for conducting a study on the challenges of financing economic diversification sectors.

During the meeting OCCI Board approved the budget for 2024, which includes projects, activities and events that will be held in the governorates, in order to achieve the strategic directions of OCCI with regard to expanding the base of economic diversification and supporting and developing the economy of the governorates.

The meeting also discussed concern to economy and supportive to business environment, enhancement partnership and cooperation with various departments. The board also reviewed the support for the governorates in 2024 and the projects, activities and events that it carries out through its branches in the governorates to enhance and activate the economic aspect.
