OHRC organizes an introductory lecture in Salalah

Salalah: A lecture was held this evening at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah about the Omani Commission for Human Rights, organized by the commission in cooperation with the Directorate General of Culture, Sports and Youth in the Dhofar Governorate as part of the human rights awareness program in the governorate, which continues until July 20.

The lecture touched on the committee’s work mechanism for the protection and promotion of human rights through the roles played by: the Monitoring and Receiving Reports Department, the Legal Affairs Department, the Organizations and International Relations Department, and the Information and Communication Department, as well as defining the role played by the committee in following up legislation and laws concerned with human rights. In addition to monitoring and following up on reports of international organizations and responding to them.

The Omani Human Rights Committee also carried out an educational session for children in the Children’s Library at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah, on children’s rights through the Omani Child Law promulgated in 2014, and the International Convention on the Child, to which the Sultanate of Oman joined in 1996, such as the right to know the child, the right to Life, survival, education, health care, family care, etc. A variety of educational publications and graphics were also distributed to children.
