Muscat: The Oman Investment Authority announces the completion of the Electricity Supply and Distribution restructuring project, merging distribution and supply companies into Nama Electricity Distribution and Nama Supply.
The restructuring includes the merging of Muscat Electricity Distribution Company, Mazoon Electricity Company, Majan Electricity Company and Tanweer Company into two companies
In a statement Oman Investment Authority said: “In fulfillment of the government’s directives aimed at optimizing efficiency and enhancing the performance of the electricity sector, Oman Investment Authority (OIA) is pleased to announce the completion of the restructuring project for the supply and distribution companies.
As part of the restructuring, Nama’s distribution and supply companies have been merged into two entities. The first company, “Nama Electricity Distribution,” will primarily focus on distribution functions, meter reading, low voltage networks, as well as building lines and transformers. The second company, “Nama Supply,” will be responsible for handling billing and collection services.
This project is expected to improve performance and services of these electricity companies by reducing operational costs and making it more convenient for customers, where “Nama unified services” will now offer integrated electricity distribution and supply services as well as water services in one location, saving time and effort for customers.”
