Muscat: The Environment Authority and the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation have signed an agreement to carry out a research project on establishing a bank for the conservation of wild animals’ genetic resources and protectingtheir economic value.
The preservation process is envisaged to be realized through freezing of the genes outside the animals’ habitats.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Abdullah Ali Al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority, and Dr. Saif Abdullah Al Haddabi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation for Research and Innovation.
The agreement seeks to preserve the genetic substance of wild animals, particularly those in danger of extinction, to ensure their sustainability. -ONA
