Oman Air Posts Record Commercial Results, Advances Toward Financial Breakeven
Muscat: Oman Air recorded strong commercial results during 2025, marking a key milestone in the company’s ongoing transformation programme, driven by initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, achieving sustainable growth, and improving the guest experience.
The national carrier transported approximately 5.8 million passengers in 2025, representing an 8 percent increase compared to 2024 and a 57 percent rise compared to 2022, surpassing global aviation market growth rates.
Passenger traffic arriving directly to the Sultanate of Oman witnessed notable growth, accounting for 64 percent of total travellers, following an unprecedented annual growth of 34 percent.
The airline’s load factor rose from 76 percent in 2024 to 82 percent in 2025, reflecting an annual increase of 6 percent and a growth of 26 percent compared to 2022. This improvement was attributed to disciplined network planning and enhanced revenue management.
Oman Air also expanded seat capacity on the Muscat–Salalah route by 17 percent compared to 2024 and 19 percent compared to 2022, resulting in a 19 percent increase in passenger numbers year-on-year and a 36 percent rise compared to 2022.
In a move to diversify its network, the airline launched its first direct charter flights between Moscow and Salalah, with plans to expand services to additional Russian cities during 2026, followed by further European destinations beginning in 2027.
These initiatives are expected to attract up to 580,000 additional travellers to Salalah by 2030, generating tourism revenues exceeding RO 320 million.
In line with its national responsibilities, Oman Air continued to support the mobility of citizens by maintaining fixed ticket prices for Omani nationals on the Muscat–Salalah route throughout the year, including the autumn season, while increasing flight frequencies during peak travel periods.
Oman Air CEO Con Korfiatis stated that the results reflect tangible progress achieved through the company’s transformation strategy, which prioritises improved commercial performance, optimal resource utilisation, and enhanced passenger experience.
He added that the transformation programme, launched in 2023, aims to achieve financial breakeven, a goal the company is advancing towards at a record pace, while remaining committed to delivering services in line with international standards and ensuring sustainable value for partners, passengers, and stakeholders.
