Oman amends residence law: expats must renew residence 15 days before its expiry

Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, issued a Royal Decree amending some provisions of the expats Residence Law, and it was published in the Official Gazette.

Article (1) – Stipulates that the text of Article 14 of the aforementioned Expats Residence Law shall be replaced by the following text:

The Inspector General determines the types of residence of foreigners in the Sultanate, the duration and conditions for granting each of them, and the rules and procedures for their renewal residing with him in accordance with what is determined by the executive regulations of this law, unless any of them is granted a residence permit of his own, and the foreigner must submit a request for renew his residence (15) days before the expiry of his residence, and it is permissible to refuse granting or renewing the residence without giving reasons.

Article (2) – The text of Article (40) of the aforementioned Expats Residence Law shall be replaced the the following text:

Article (40)  The fees for entry visas, residence visas, traffic licenses and their renewal, and all fees that must be paid in implementation of the provisions of this law and the regulations and decisions issued in implementation thereof, shall be determined by a decision of the Inspector General -after the approval of the Ministry of Finance.

The Second article stipulated canceling everything that contradicts the attached amendments, or contradicts their provisions.
