Oman and Bahrain sign several agreements

Manama: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and King Hamad bin Issa Al Khalifa of the Kingdom of Bahrain, graced the signing of 10 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and 7 executive programmes and agreements at Al Sakhir Palace today. Present at the signing ceremony were officials from both sides.

The agreements covered the fields of security, shipping, ports, studies and research, the establishment of an Omani-Bahraini investment company, granting Oman the right of sovereignty over its subscriber data in the company’s existing cloud computing centres in Bahrain, in addition to granting Oman the status of authorized partner accredited to the Global Freight Services (GAC).

The memoranda of understanding and executive programmes covered the areas of information technology, municipal work, higher education, scholarly research, innovation, competition protection, prevention of monopoly, space science and technology, air navigation, social development, cultural and museum management, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) development, entrepreneurship, historical documentation, document management and archives and an executive programme between Oman’s Foreign Ministry and Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, agriculture, livestock and fisheries fields, the scientific and educational fields, environment protection, youth, culture, heritage, tourism cooperation, remote dealings of brokerage companies through the electronic trading system.

The agreement on cooperation in the field of security was signed by Oman’s Interior Minister Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi and his Bahraini counterpart Lt.Gen. Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.

The two sides signed an agreement to establish Oman-Bahrain Investment Holding Company. It was inked by Eng. Ridha bin Juma Al Saleh, Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), and Sameer bin Abdullah Nass, Chairman of Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The two sides also signed granting Oman the status of an authorized partner accredited to the GAC. It was signed by Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, and Assayyid Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani, Bahrain’s Minister of Industry and Commerce.

A cooperation agreement in the field of shipping and ports was signed by Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, and Mohammed bin Thamer Al Kaabi, Bahrain’s Minister of Transport and Communications.

The two sides also signed a cooperation agreement between Sultan Qaboos University (the Centre for Omani Studies) and Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International and Energy Studies. The agreement, which provides for cooperation in the field of studies and research, was inked by Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi and Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International and Energy Studies.

An agreement granting Oman the right of sovereignty over subscriber data in the existing cloud computing centres in Bahrain was signed by Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi and his Bahraini counterpart Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani.

A memorandum of understanding was signed by Oman’s Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology and Bahrain’s Information and e-Government Authority. The MoU, which covers cooperation in the field of information technology, was inked by Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi and Lt.Gen. Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Minister of Interior.

In the field of municipal work, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Government of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Interior, and the Government of Kingdom of Bahrain, represented by the Ministry of Municipalities and Agriculture. It was inked by Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior, and Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Bahrain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.

A memorandum of understanding was also signed between Oman’s Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation and Bahrain’s Higher Education Council in the field of higher education, scientific research and innovation. It was inked by Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi and Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi, Bahrain’s Minister of Education.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between Oman’s Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion and Bahrain’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce in the field of competition protection and prevention of monopoly. It was signed by Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi and Assayyid Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Industry and Commerce.

In the field of space sciences and technologies, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology of the Sultanate of Oman, represented by the National Center for Space, Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technologies, and the National Space Science Authority of the Kingdom of Bahrain. It was signed by Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi and Mohammed bin Thamer Al Kaabi, Minister of Transport and Communications.

A memorandum of understanding was also signed between the Government of the Sultanate of Oman represented by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain represented by the Ministry of Transport and Communications. It was signed by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, and Mohammed bin Thamer Al Kaabi, Minister of Transport and Communications.

The Ministry of Social Development of the Sultanate of Oman and the Ministry of Social Development of the Kingdom of Bahrain also signed a memorandum of understanding in the areas of social development. It was signed by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, and Osama bin Ahmed Khalaf Al Asfour, Minister of Social Development.

In the field of cultural and museum work, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the National Museum of the Sultanate of Oman and the Bahrain National Museum. It was inked by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister and Ramzan bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Minister of Information Affairs.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (ASMED) and the Labour Fund (Tamkeen) of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the field of small and medium enterprise development and entrepreneurship. It was signed by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minster and Hamad bin Faisal Al Malki, Minister of Cabinet Affairs.

A MoU was also signed between the National Records and Archives Authority (NRAA) of the Sultanate of Oman and the Isa Cultural Center of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the field of historical documentation and management of documents and archives. It was signed from the Omani side by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister whilst it was signed from the Bahraini side by Dr. Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Executive Director of Isa Cultural Center.

An executive programme was also signed between the Foreign Ministry of the Sultanate of Oman and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain during the years 2023-2024. It was signed by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, and from the Bahraini side by Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

On cooperation in the agricultural, livestock and fisheries fields, the government of the Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, and the government of the Kingdom of Bahrain, represented by the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, signed an executive programme for the MoU for the years 2023/2024. It was signed from the Omani side by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, while from the Bahraini side, it was signed by Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

An executive programme was also signed to activate the MoU between the Ministry of Education of the Sultanate of Oman and the Ministry of Education of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the scientific and educational fields for the academic years 2022/2023 – 2023/2024. It was signed by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister and Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi, Minister of Education of Bahrain.

An executive programme was also signed for the MoU inked between the Environment Authority of the Sultanate of Oman and the Ministry of Oil and Environment of the Kingdom of Bahrain for cooperation in the field of environmental protection for the period 2023-2024. It was signed by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, and Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Dina, Minister of Oil and Environment.

In the youth fields, an executive programme of cooperation was signed between the Government of the Sultanate of Oman represented by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth and the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain represented by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs for the years 2022-2025. It was signed by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, and Ayman bin Tawfiq Al Moayyed, Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth of the Sultanate of Oman and the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities also signed an executive programme for the memorandum of understanding in the field of culture and heritage for the years 2023-2026. It was signed Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, and Ramzan bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Minister of Information Affairs.

On tourism cooperation, an executive programme of the memorandum of understanding was signed between the government of the Sultanate of Oman represented by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and the government of the Kingdom of Bahrain represented by the Ministry of Tourism for the years 2022-2026. It was inked by signed by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, and Fatima bint Jaafar Al Sayrafi, Minister of Tourism.

An agreement was also signed on remote trading of brokerage companies through the electronic trading system (TABADUL HUB) between Muscat Stock Exchange (MSX), Muscat Clearing and Depository Company and Bahrain Bourse and Bahrain Clearing Company. It was signed by Haitham bin Salem Al Salmi, CEO of Muscat Stock Exchange, and Sheikh Khalifa bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, CEO of Bahrain Bourse.

The signing ceremony was attended by members of the official delegation accompanying His Majesty the Sultan, members of the Royal family of Bahrain and senior officials of Bahrain.  – ONA
