Oman and Mauritania Discuss Cooperation in Higher Education

Muscat: Dr. Rahma Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation met here today with Moctar Ahmed El Yedaly, Minister of Digital Transition, Innovation and Modernization of Administration in Mauritania to discuss aspects of cooperation and ways of enhancing them between the two countries.

During the consultative meeting, the Mauritanian delegation was briefed on the areas of digital transition in the ministry, represented by the Higher Education Admission Centre (HEAC), the ministry’s website (ASAS), the Omani Network for Scientific Research and Education (OMRN), the Omani Research Repository (Shuaa), in addition to the (Ejaad) platform, which links the academic and research sector with the industrial sector.

The meeting also touched on the ministry’s efforts to ensure the quality of higher education, promote scientific research and innovation, support the projects transfer into start-ups in cooperation with supporting agencies, and establish centers for innovation and technology transfer in private higher education institutions.

The Mauritanian side expressed its desire to benefit from the Omani experience in various fields of digital transition and procedures pursued by educational institutions in joining the global rankings.

The meeting was attended Eng. Said Hamoud Al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, and officials from both sides. – ONA
