Oman announces taxi owners to join licensed applications from 1 October

Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology announced the details of the timetable to start implementing the decision to compel taxi owners to join the applications licensed by the ministry through three time stages.

The ministry stated that the first phase of the program begins on the first of next October and includes the category of taxi drivers operating at the airports of the Sultanate of Oman, while the second phase for the category of tourist complexes, hotels, commercial centers and ports begins on the first of next November, while the third phase is related to the category of taxi vehicles. The mobile (white and orange) will start on the first of next January.

The ministry stated that it will, during the coming period, invite owners of applications licensed for taxi activity to apply for an additional license to practice the activity according to the target groups in the program.

It is noteworthy that the implementation of the program comes based on the Land Transport Law and its executive regulations, and maximizing the benefit for taxi owners through the technologies available in the applications and the system that allows the user to track and monitor the flight path while ensuring his privacy and security.
