Oman announces the squad for friendly matches between Palestine and America

Muscat:  Oman football team’s head coach Branko Ivankovic, announced the list for the internal camp, which will be held during the period 1-7 next September, and includes two friendly matches. The first is with the Palestinian national team, and the second is with the American national team.

The team’s roster included: Ahmed bin Faraj Al Rawahi, Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Mukhaini, Fayez bin Issa Al Rashidi, Mahmoud bin Mabrouk Al Mushafri, Ahmed bin Khalifa Al Kaabi, Moataz Saleh Abd Rabbo, Khalid bin Nasser Al Buraiki, Ahmed bin Muhammad Al Khamisi, Ahmed bin Ali Al Matroushi, Fahmi bin Saeed Bayt Durbin, Juma bin Marhoon Al Habsi, and Musab bin Hamad Al-Maamari, Tamim bin Haitham Al-Balushi, Hareb bin Jamil Al-Saadi, Salah bin Saeed Al-Yahyaei, Zahir bin Suleiman Al-Aghbari, Abdul Rahman bin Eid Al-Mushafiri, Ali bin Musa Al-Hinai, Abdullah bin Fawaz Bayt Arafa, Jamil bin Salim Al-Yahmadi, Mohsen bin Saleh Al-Ghassani, Ahmed bin Juma Al-Adawi, Omar bin Muhammad Al-Maliki, and Issam bin Abdullah.

Branko said during the press conference held today: The team is awaiting important matches during the coming period, starting with the double qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup and the 2027 Asian Nations, which will start next November, as the 2026 World Cup tournament system was changed after increasing the number of qualifying teams from the Asian continent. To 8 teams, the opportunity has become great for all Asian teams, and the opportunity to qualify will not be easy, especially with the presence of a number of advanced teams seeking to qualify on the continent, such as the Iraqi and Bahraini teams.

He added: The second mission for the team in the coming period is to participate in the 2024 Asian Cup during next January, where our team will enter the tournament with high ambitions in the sixth group, accompanied by the teams of Saudi Arabia, Thailand and Kyrgyzstan. The players will be prepared for the tournament according to a preparatory program that is compatible with the local competitions represented in the Omantel League. And His Majesty the Sultan’s Football Cup, and we understand the clubs’ need for their players, as well as the Asian competitions (AFC Cup) in which Al Nahda Club participates after its success in qualifying for the group stage, explaining that these tournaments are of great importance and give the player more experience than local tournaments.

Branko touched on the two friendly matches against the Palestinian national team on September 6th and the American national team on December 12th, and said: The two matches are very important for improving performance, raising the level, and monitoring the readiness of the players, especially facing the American national team (ranked 11th in the world). Through this match, we seek to benefit from Maximum, and these confrontations with strong teams contribute to revealing players’ weaknesses and correcting mistakes.
